Leyi Zou

Hi, I’m Leyi Zou (Zelo), an incoming Computer Science PhD student at Purdue University, advised by Professor Qiuyue (Shirley) Xue in Snowball Lab. Before Purdue, I earned my Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UCLA with a GPA of 4.0, and completed my undergraduate studies at Zhejiang University with the First-Class Scholarship (Chu Kochen Honors College).

I was a research intern in Hilab (advised by Prof Yang Zhang). I’ve explored topics from wireless human activity recognition to VLM-based assistive robotic policies. I won second place in the indoor radio map prediction competition, MLSP 2025, advised by Prof Danijela Cabric.

My research interest centers on multimodal sensing for applications in mobile health and robotic intelligence. I care about making sensing seamless, accessible and adaptive to everyone in need.

When not working, I listen to Lorde, read novels and explore vintage stores. I am also an enthusiast of animals and nature — they always keep me creatively charged and give me insights about the world.
