Leyi Zou

Hola from a freckled girl.

Hi, I’m Leyi (Zelo) Zou, a second-year M.S. student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCLA, currently a research intern at Hilab (advised by Prof Yang Zhang).

My work builds AI-powered multimodal sensing, with a particular focus on human-centered systems. I’ve explored topics ranging from human activity recognition with WiFi CSI signals to VLM-powered assistive robotics for wheelchair users. Recently, I won second place in the indoor radio map prediction competition, MLSP 2025.

Before UCLA, I worked with Prof. Henry Chen (CUHK) and Prof. Zhiguo Shi (ZJU). I graduated with a 3.95/4 GPA and the ZJU First-Class Scholarship (Honors College).

Beyond research, I enjoy movies, reading, travelling and sports — they keep me creatively charged and give me extra insights about the world. I also love animals and might drop fun facts about them you didn’t ask for :P

Feel free to reach me via zelozou [at] ucla [dot] edu. I’d love any fun and insightful idea.
